The City of Mississauga offers an Outdoor Maintenance Subsidy to help low-income seniors and low-income residents with disabilities cover the cost of essential outdoor maintenance services, including snow removal, yard clean-up, lawn care, and garden maintenance. This support helps keep properties safe, accessible, and properly maintained throughout the year.

Who is eligible for the Snow Removal Financial Assistance Program?

You may qualify if you are a homeowner or primary renter living at the property, are 65 years or older, or have a permanent physical disability that prevents you from clearing snow.

Do I need medical proof?

Only if you are under 65 and applying due to a permanent disability. A Canadian regulated health practitioner must complete the medical form, or you can provide an Accessible Parking Permit.

Are there any other eligibility? 

  • Live at the property during the time services were provided
  • Claim the subsidy only for their primary residence

  • Not own or lease other properties requiring maintenance

  • Not live with any able-bodied person over 16

  • Not live in a condo or multi-unit residence where maintenance is already provided

  • Provide proof of payment for services such as invoices or signed receipts 

When is the deadline to apply?

March 31 of the year following the subsidy year.

Approved subsidy cheques are mailed after June 15 of the following year.

You can apply for the Snow Removal Financial Assistance Program by submitting the application form to the City. Applications can be sent online, by email, by mail, fax, or dropped off in person.
